Subject:
General Education

Welcome to Ms. Marquardt's online classroom at Malley Drive Elementary. Here you can find important information about our kindergarten class such as: reference documents for parents and students, what are we currently working on and any class events we have coming up. I also have a class website! CLICK HERE FOR MORE: CLASS UPDATES, RESOURCES, VIDEOS, AND MORE!

These first steps in the academic world are so important, and I am privileged to give your student the support and guidance needed in that critical time, but I will need your help.

  • Please make sure your student is prepared for school every day. Ensure they get plenty of rest, and help them choose something healthy for breakfast each morning, either at home or school, so they have energy for the work they will be doing.
  • I believe that students should be actively involved in the learning process and that learning should be hands-on.  For this reason you will not see a lot of worksheets coming home. However, please check your student’s backpack every afternoon, as I will regularly send home completed work, sometimes with my comments or questions. Look through this work with your student and celebrate the learning your student is doing, and discuss any concerns or questions I have noted. Please make sure your child brings a backpack to school every day.
  • It is incredibly important that learning is reinforced at home. I ask all families to participate in your child’s learning. Every Monday your child will be bringing home a homework folder with activities to complete that week. Homework folders are due Friday. In addition to the homework folder activities, it is important that your child reads or is read to every night, sight words are reviewed, and math concepts such as counting, patterning, sorting, and number recognition are practiced every day. Friday Folders are purple and will be sent home every Friday. Friday Folders are due Monday.
  • I use a clip chart system to reflect behavior infractions, and to communicate with you on how your student did each day. Please see the letter that explains my behavior system in more detail.

Communication is important to your child’s success. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You can call me at 720-972-3493 or email me from my profile page.

I look forward to working with you and your child!
